The Colin Pain Collection
Colin Pain was a larger-than-life character who made a major contribution to the Hampton Wick community over many years. An architect with the Property Service Agency (seen here inspecting one of his most famous charges), Colin founded the Hampton Wick Association in 1962 to fight the plan to a create a bypass for Kingston by building a second river crossing into Hampton Wick alongside the railway bridge.
A passionate and knowledgeable local historian, some of his extensive collection of images and postcard collection material are presented here for the enjoyment of others.
